I LOVE my family! I’m so thankful to have amazing parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins! We met at the beginning of this month to celebrate my Grandma Ya Ya’s birthday. She is now 90 years-old! She doesn’t look a day over 60 in my opinion! I’m such a fan of the flower crown my cousin Erin made for my Grammy to wear. As gorgeous as she is, she even more caring and thoughtful. I just can’t say enough nice things about her. We started the celebration off at Mexican restaurant and then went to play at the beach. We have a family full of photographers and I especially loved watching my Uncle Doug use his “GoPro” camera. It was great to finally meet some of my cousins’s kiddos that I hadn’t met yet. Little Sophia (baby in pink crawling on the sand) was so fun to watch. What a happy baby! For my Grandma’s birthday present I asked everyone in my family to write up their favorite memory of her or what they love most about her. I then put everyone’s responses into a book along with the photos I took of her back in December. It was a wonderful way to let her know how much she has influenced us all for the better. Another favorite part of this trip for me was making up a synchronized swim routine with the kids to preform for the moms for Mother’s Day. Turns out I’m super talented at dancing in a swimming pool, just kidding, totally not talented at that. As the night came to a close we all went back down to the beach to send off paper lanterns into the sky. It was pretty magical to say the least. Love you Grammy!
Images from our recent road trip to California. This was definitely up there on the highlights of our trip. It’s nice to take images just for yourself and be a tourist on occasion. My favorite image is Jared standing in the tree. As a man who stands 6 feet 3 inches tall, it was funny to see him look so tiny in comparison. Jared, I love you and can’t wait until we take our next traveling adventure together!
Kids are cool, aren’t they?! So quick to be silly and fun! I had the Boyd family put their kiddos on their shoulders for these last shots and play “peek-a-boo” from behind the hedge. I loved the expressions I got! So great! I must say, I’d never been to this part of Tacoma before. I was trying to figure out where to shoot and by random chance on the internet I saw an aerial shot of this school. It looked pretty awesome online, however you never know once you get there. I loved the school and surrounding neighborhood. It was super refreshing to shoot in a new location. It’s so nice when things just work out! I met this darling family when were living in Seattle and I was so excited when they won my Facebook contest for a FREE portrait session. So all of you who just thought, “I want a FREE portrait session!” Please stay tuned as I will offer another one this December. It’s my way of saying thank you for a great year! Thank you Jamie for being a long time fan of my photography and congrats on your new adventure to Texas! You will be missed!!!
I love this family! They are just so fun to hang out with. Chana speaks to her kiddos in the most sweet way. She is one awesome Momma. We had a great time playing in the fields of Union, WA. I especially had fun photographing the family “dog pile” images. Little Bear was pretty excited to jump all over his Daddy. I love capturing families playing together. Thanks Watson family for a fantastic session! You have some seriously adorable children!
What to hear a funny story? We were supposed to shoot the night before, but we followed our iPhone maps an hour in the wrong direction! By the time we realized we were in the wrong spot, it was too late. The sun would be down before the time we got to the right location. We were all pretty bummed as we all had our hearts set shooting at the Bonneville Salt Flats. So we came up with plan B! We decided to shoot at sunrise the next morning! I have to give this family huge props for waking up before the sun! Everyone was pretty tired on the car ride there, but as soon as we all saw that amazing pink sun coming up we all got a burst of energy! This location was unlike any other I had ever seen. I mean it looks like snow, but it’s not! It’s just a lot of salt. Crunchy, dried, salt. This session makes me want to travel more! Who’s with me? Let me make it clear, if you want to take a family trip to a unique, remote location and want a photographer to come along…I’m your gal! I know the Brown family from when we lived in Seattle. We scheduled this shoot through a conversation on Instagram. Isn’t it so cool how connected we all are now?! I’m so glad I got to know this sweet family better! If you love to scrapbook, you should definitely check out Alexes’s blog. Thanks Brown family for an amazing adventure!
