This is how I ended New Year’s Eve, 2015. (Cue high note) These two beauties were visiting from Florida and were gifted a session from my awesome friend Aly of The Pineapple Paper Co. Thank you Aly for giving me the opportunity to photograph your STUNNING friends and soak up every last bit of light last year. I’m feeling happy momentum from this shoot and I can’t wait to post my highlights of last year. Recap post coming soon! Thank you Andrew and Sarah for an amazing session and braving the cold! Next, let’s shoot in Florida ;)
This session depicts all my favorite things rolled up into one photo shoot. A family that loves to laugh and have fun, a beautiful location and 60 minutes to capture everyone’s beautiful connection and personality. Thank you Tuomisto family for making all my photographer dreams come true!
She calls me Kris. It’s the best. She’s become an inspiration in my life and when Angie asked me to document her journey through breast cancer, I said yes without hesitation and with a feeling of deep gratitude to capture these memories and feelings for her.
Cancer is an all too familiar word in my life these days. I have an entire hands worth of close friends and family members who were battling, are battling, or in remission right now. As Angie’s bracelet so perfectly states, “Cancer Sucks” and we taking all the suckiness and transforming it into a light for others to see. Images of hope, truth, and perseverance. The images above are from our first shoot together. Angie dyed her hair baby pink as a last hurrah before it would start to fall out. She wanted to capture blurry feelings, the crazy amounts of meds and the beautiful gifts from her friends. Fast forward twenty days later and due to the chemo Angie’s hair had begun to fall out. She messaged me and said it was time for our second round of photos. Here is what I’d like to share with you from this last shoot. 1. Angie chooses to wake up each day and look for the good. As I watched her go from her full head of hair, to a Mohawk, and then finally to her new buzzed look, I was AMAZED at her strength and choice to be happy. Could we all say the same if we had to say goodbye to our locks? Her choice to stay positive radiates throughout her whole family and I’ve never been so impressed with what a difference an attitude can make. 2. Shortly after taking these photos I ran into Angie and her son in the store. As we said hello, her son showed me his cell phone and he had made his home-screen the photo of their hug where his hand is on her head. I MELTED. It was the most heartfelt, flattering experience and I realized just how important these photos are. They are going to be a source of happiness, love and something to reflect back on when Angie has come out on the other side of it all. Life is full of mystery and I’m not sure why such terrible things happen to GREAT people, but I do know that it compels us to be more compassionate, appreciate life’s little moments and value our connections all the more. Thank you to the whole Fields gang for welcoming me on this journey with you. Thank you to Julia Ward (hair stylist extraordinaire @ Moda Capelli Hair in Olympia) and thank you to everyone who reads this post. Please go read Angie’s blog to be inspired and learn more.
Sigh…This session makes me so happy. Mt. Rainier has been calling my name ever since. I can’t wait to go back! Thank you from the bottom of my heart to the Shook Family. They were visiting from Texas and booked with me via Facebook. It was everything I needed and more! :) Enjoy!
Capturing two people who love each other while the sun is going down is probably my favorite thing. Leslie and Kyle are running away to California to get married later this year and I’m so excited I got to capture them during this fun time in their lives. Being engaged is pretty great! New love, new ring, and the countdown is on for happily ever after. Thanks Leslie and Kyle for an amazing session. I wish you both many years of pretty sunsets and laughs together!
During last holiday season I offered a giveaway via Instagram for a free beach session. You got to choose any Washington State beach for the session and I would meet you there! Andrea from Blush Day Spa won my giveaway and she chose Kalaloch Beach because that is where Kevin proposed to her. Knowing how special this beach was to them made for a wonderful session and I’m so glad I got to photograph these two (three) while catching the sunset. I hope to shoot more sessions like this in the future because I can’t get enough of that ocean air. Thanks Kevin and Andrea for being so fun to photograph. I can’t wait to see baby photos soon! *If you’ve never had a facial, I HIGHLY recommend going to see Andrea at Blush Day Spa. I felt like a new woman after seeing her and can’t wait to see her again!
